Parent Service & Volunteer Opportunities

There are many opportunities to become involved in our SJCS family through volunteering. Please look at the following opportunities and share the gift of your time and talent with our school. You won't regret it!

Per diocesan guidelines, volunteers at our school must be certified by our safe environment program and have a badge supplied by St. Joseph in order to volunteer. If you are interested and have not yet completed or renewed this brief training, please click below or contact Janie Pouttu at jpouttu@stjosephccschool.net for training opportunities. Thank you!

“Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God’s grace in its various forms.”

FULL-YEAR OPPORTUNITIES

Auction Committee and Auction Parents
Auction Committee members work together with the Auction chairs to plan the Auction and Gala--our biggest fund raiser of the year. We are always looking for new ideas and new people to help. It's also a great way to meet people and become more involved in our school community.  Auction Parents work with a specific grade to put together baskets that will be auctioned at our annual auction. It is a fun and easy way to help our school! Contact Robyn Trowbridge at auction@stjosephccschool.net to join the auction committee.

School Advisory Council
The School Advisory Council provides leadership, direction, and support to the Pastor and the Principal to advance the quality of Catholic education for our students. For more information, please visit the tab in the navigation. Contact our principal, Ms. Thompson, at fthompson@stjosephccschool.net if you are interested in serving on the SAC.

Room Parents
Have you thought about getting more involved this year? Consider becoming a room parent! It is a fun way to get involved in your child's classroom and support our wonderful teachers at the same time. Don't worry!  We will give you detailed instructions and guidelines. No experience necessary.

ONE-TIME COMMITMENTS

Snack Basket
Do your weekday commitments prevent you from volunteering at the school? Do you like to shop and/or bake? Do you like a simple way to say thank you? The St. Joseph tradition of the snack basket is a great way to show support to our teachers and staff. We provide snacks in the school office to satisfy that mid-morning or mid-afternoon hunger since vending machines are not available.

Parish Visits
Help spread the word about upcoming open houses by visiting with families after Mass at area churches. This is an easy but important way to help our school continue to grow and attract new students. Contact Jennifer Basham at jbasham@stjosephccschool.net.

Book Fair:
Our book fair is held twice a year and helps us add new books to our library every year. Watch for emails and a Sign-up Genius once this year's dates have been scheduled. Contact Library Manager, Susan Sabetti, at ssabetti@stjosephccschool.net.

Field Day
Field Day takes place in May and many volunteers are needed to make it successful!

Jag Shack Volunteers
The Jag Shack is a concession stand available during home football and volleyball games. There are two locations: one in the school cafeteria for Volleyball games and one located in the (air-conditioned) food truck next to the football field. Any parent or relative who would like to volunteer is welcome. Someone will always be there to assist or train you. High school students may earn service hours by volunteering as well. If you have questions, please contact the SJCS athletic director, David Bishop, at dbishop@stjosephccschool.net.

Cafeteria Volunteers
Each month, a different grade is asked to provide volunteers to help our students in the lunchroom. Lunch begins at 11:00am and ends at approximately 12:30pm. Volunteers work with Ms. Janie Reyes and Mrs. Jennifer Basham to assist our students in opening food items, passing out napkins/straws/utensils, passing out birthday treats, dismissing children to line up after eating, and overseeing the cleaning of tables and floors. Lunchtime is a great time to visit with all of our students, watch your child(ren) interact with their friends, and help fill a need at our school!

Classroom Helpers
Contact your child's homeroom teacher to find out what opportunities are available this year!

Library Helpers
Our library is a great place to volunteer! Volunteer hours are very flexible and there are many times available throughout the day, Tuesday through Thursday.  Volunteers are needed for shelving books, special projects, shelf reading, guest reading during library time (K through 5th grade), assisting with classes (K-1) and assisting with Book Fair (January and May). Contact Susan Sabetti at ssabetti@stjosephccschool.net if you are interested.

Field Trip Chaperones
Sign up directly with your child's teacher in the weeks before the field trip.

Flower/Wreath Sales
Our PTO raises money through Fall and Spring flower sales. Volunteers help distribute orders to families on designated pickup days.

Grandparents' Day
Contact Amy Burton at school@stjosephccschool.net.

PARENT ORGANIZATIONS
Another great way to get involved and volunteer at St. Joseph is through one of our parent organizations: PTO,  SJCS Moms' Club or Dads' Club. Please click the group titles to learn more about these wonderful organizations.
